Interactive sessions and learning opportunities for professionals, teams, and communities
Regular workshops for professionals
As part of my ongoing commitment to sharing and developing compassion-focused approaches, I deliver training across a wide range of professional, educational, and community settings. My workshops and courses offer structured, practice-based learning designed to deepen skills, build confidence, and create space for reflection, discussion, and connection.
Since 2012, I’ve delivered more than 2,800 hours of training and around 100 invited talks across the UK and internationally. My work spans NHS teams, universities, local authorities, schools, social care services, substance-use services, charities, and community organisations, as well as wellbeing workshops for the general public. I run 1- to 5-day trainings and longer courses for therapists, mental health workers, educators, leaders, students, and staff in residential and secure settings, with a particular focus on compassion-focused approaches to mental health, trauma, voice-hearing, and staff wellbeing. I’m also frequently invited to give keynotes, conference workshops, and seminars for both professional and lived-experience communities.
If you’d like to arrange training for your team or organisation, please contact me.

With the release of my second book, I’m now offering courses to help people with their self-sabotaging patterns and training for therapists to support people with this:
- ‘A compassionate approach to working with self-criticism’
- ‘Navigating self-destructive patterns in therapy’
- ‘Working with shame, trauma, and emotional avoidance’
- ‘Introduction to controlled explosions: working with the threat-protective functions of the brain’
Clinical skills in CFT for Psychosis

Check the ‘events’ page for upcoming CFTp workshops:

Since 2014, I’ve been running the Compassionate Mind Foundation’s CFT for Psychosis training pathway in the UK. These are experiential and skills-focused workshops tailored to clinicians working with people experiencing psychosis. I also deliver a 3-stage training pathway for US clinicians through a long-standing collaboration with Stanford University. See more at: med.stanford.edu.
CMT ‘Train-the-trainer’

Check the ‘events’ page for upcoming CMT workshops:

Since 2021, I’ve facilitated the CMT Train-the-Trainer 5-day workshop as part of the Balanced Minds CMT Facilitator Training pathway. This workshop is designed for practitioners who wish to deepen their own practice while gaining the skills and confidence to deliver Compassionate Mind Training to others. See more information on our dedicated page: balancedminds.com.
Both of these regular training opportunities are grounded in evidence-based frameworks and years of clinical experience. Whether you’re looking to build your clinical skills in working with psychosis, or support others through running your own Compassionate Mind Training courses, these workshops aim to offer something practical, meaningful, and supportive.
Tailored trainings for teams

Since 2012, my Balanced Minds colleague Chris and I have created custom workshops and training packages for various organisations. Some projects have been small, such as a single workshop, while others have been large, lasting months/years and including clincial skills, supervision, staff wellbeing, and leadership coaching.
Click here to see some of the organisations I’ve provided training for, spanning multiple sectors (healthcare, social care, education, charities, as well as the general public).
